Our journey towards sustainability

Our customers are proud of their custom-designed diaries and calendars. We also want them to be proud of the origins and processes behind them. That's why we strive to integrate a sustainable perspective into all parts of Personal Almanacka, and give you as a customer better choices for the sake of the environment.

Our products

On demand printing
We only print the calendar you order, so we don't have overproduction or large inventories of unsold goods that waste resources.

Highest quality
All our calendars are long-lasting products that are used every day for a year. A product you have designed yourself is also something you often want to keep as a personal keepsake. That is why we choose materials with great care, so that the calendar maintains the highest quality for a long time.

Recycling the calendar is easy – check out how!

Our paper

Our 130-gram paper is of the highest quality and undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets the standards.
The paper carries the Cradle to Cradle Certified® eco-label at the bronze level, which means that in addition to striving to have a minimal impact on the earth, we also actively work to have a positive environmental impact during production.
The paper is produced at a Nordic Ecolabelled paper mill in Sweden, and is eco-labelled according to FSC, PEFC, ISO 14001, Paper Profile and EMAS

Our printing house in Sweden

Our partner prints nearly 100% of all our paper products in the heart of Sweden. They have a range of environmental certifications and are constantly developing new methods to become even more sustainable.

  • All paper waste from production is recycled

Efficient shipping

When it's time to mail the packages, we have deliberately chosen specially designed packaging that provides sufficient protection for the products but minimizes unnecessary extra space in the packages - we don't send any air!

We also do not send unnecessary information, advertising, notes, etc., but try to communicate most of it electronically.

What we are doing right now

Join us on our journey towards better and more sustainable choices, both in terms of our products and processes, but also in everyday life at Personlig Almanacka HQ!

Reduced plastic
In collaboration with our customers' wishes, we have gradually reduced the plastic in our products. Nowadays, you can opt out of the plastic pocket and ruler, or choose a thinner ruler for your calendar. We have also recently removed the lamination of our covers as part of this ongoing work. As far as possible and realistically possible, we choose to eliminate individual plastic packaging around our accessories. For example, we put several of our pen multi-packs in paper packaging instead of in cellophane bags or the like. We also use a wrapping paper strip around bundles of cards and refill pages, where plastic bags would otherwise have been the standard solution.

Better packaging
To ship all our family calendars and A4 diaries, we use recyclable corrugated cardboard packaging. For other orders, we are currently actively looking for packaging that is more environmentally friendly and still protects the products adequately during shipping.

More sustainable partners
As part of our sustainability work, we have begun a close collaboration with an environmentally certified printing company; see more information above.

Non-toxic ink
We only use non-toxic ink when printing your calendar. The printing inks are completely free of volatile solvents, are water-based and Nordic Ecolabel-approved.

Personal Almanac HQ
Our head office is located just outside Uppsala, in a converted barn in the countryside. Here, the electricity is 100% green, and to cultivate a culture of environmental awareness, we provide company bikes for employees who take the train to the office. We also have charging stations for our employees' electric cars available.
