Red days in 2026

It's not always easy to keep track of all the holidays, as they move around the calendar a little every year. And of course it's a bit annoying when a red day ends up on a weekend? But 2026 actually has quite a few good opportunities to maximize your time off.

So how should you think about getting the most out of your time off? Here are some tips:

Easter 2026

Easter 2026 falls early in April. If you take Thursday, April 2 (Maundy Thursday), you get a five-day long weekend.

Ascension Day 2026

Thursday, May 14th is a red day. If you take Friday, May 15th off, you get four days off, perfect for early summer.

Christmas 2026

Christmas 2026 is perfectly fine in terms of time off opportunities. Christmas Eve is on a Thursday, which means you get a five-day weekend without using a single vacation day.

Want to max out? Take Monday 21, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 December off, and you'll have nine days off in a row from Saturday 20 December to Sunday 28 December.

Continue with leave on Monday, December 28, Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30 and you will get a full 16 days of continuous leave with only 6 vacation days.
